John D. Barrow (1952-2020), English cosmologist, theoretical physicist, and mathematician. His major works include The Anthropic Cosmological Principle (1988, with Frank Tipler), The Left Hand of Creation: The Origin and Evolution of the Expanding Universe (1983, with Joseph Silk), and Impossibility: The Limits of Science and the Science of Limits (1999). His fields of specialization were cosmology, theoretical physics, and mathematics.
